The patient experienced constipation, bloating and diarrhea. For

changing her diet. The symptoms persisted for a few months and she
then began noticing blood in her stool. The amount of blood
increased over period of several weeks. By this time she finally
visited her school clinic. The doctor at the clinic ordered blood
work and fecal occult blood testing. The doctor also recommended
that she see a gastroenterologist. When the fecal occult blood test
came back positive she made an appointment with a gastroenterologist
who performed a colonoscopy. As the gastroenterologist put it, "just
in case." The colonoscopy was followed by trans-rectal ultrasound
and needle biopsy.
